I can not lie, while it comes to Christmas event I am a fanatic and want to be have fun all time. When I was junior all I cared about was what gifts, hampers and many other things I was going to get and how many gifts I may catch. Everything else about the vacation was of little implication to me and my primary purpose was getting, not exchanging gifts. Whether it was the first Nintendo, the full Voltron set or the freshest pair of Jordan sneakers, Christmas was all about my Christmas list and getting everything off of it.
Even so, now that I am a grown man the vacation holds a much deeper implication for me. You see, when I was younger I never accomplished how hard it was to get the entire family collectively for the holidays and spread good cheer amongst each other.
At present that I am an uncle and a father with my own children and many other closest family I know how hard it is to plan a gift in collaboration and have the entire family there delighting each other’s company. In the summer time my siblings are vacationing with their families, or the kids are in sleep away camp or there’s something else which always appears to come up. Not only that, but some of my siblings live in different positions of the US and traveling can be prohibitory with the rising costs of traveling.
When Christmas comes around all the same we all make a concerted effort to gather and do some much involved bonded with one another. For those of us who are conjoined we can only make it every other year due to asking to spend the holidays with our spouse’s families during the alternating years. Consequently we make certain that we buy our plane tickets early and put in our vacation time way in advance as well. We make a point that we put the family most importantly and we sincerely enjoy each others time.
I guess the argument why I like the Christmas vacation so much is because it’s a time while I know I will get to see all of my beloveds and reestablish the genetic bonds that keep us collectively. It’s a time when there is no work to do and we all just go to our parents house and reminisce on the good times we have shared in the past. Observing our children lark about and play fight and enjoy all of their presents really brings me to a time in the past times when we exhibited that exact habit and it always causes me feel good remembering those limited times.
